violin, guitar, piano, voice, composition, arranging, music technology lessons by Mel Guérison.
“I highly recommend Mel Guerison as not only an excellent music teacher but also a patient and understanding mentor. My daughter, Finley, has been fortunate to be her student for over six years, and Mel’s personalized teaching approach has positively impacted Finley’s learning. Since Finley started lessons with Mel, I’ve seen an incredible advancement in Finley’s musical skills and abilities. Mel has taught Finley the Piano and Guitar, including scoring. Finley has been able to apply the skills that Mel has taught her to her college studies.”

“It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of recommendation for Mel Guérison, an exceptional music educator who has provided lessons to my daughters for more than a decade. As an experienced performer, producer, and educator with a deep experience teaching students from kindergarten to older age, Ms. Guérison brings an impressive depth of knowledge and versatility to the classroom. One of Ms. Guérison’s most remarkable qualities is her proficiency across a wide variety of instruments, including piano, vocals, bass, guitar, percussion, and violin. This extensive range of expertise allows her to tailor lessons to meet the diverse needs and interests of her students, fostering both technical skills and a deep love for music. Whether teaching beginner-level students or coaching advanced high school and college musicians, she has the unique ability to adapt her approach to ensure every student feels both challenged and supported in their musical journey. In addition to her instrumental expertise, Ms. Guérison is able to connect with students on a personal level. Her background in live performance and music production brings a real-world perspective to her teaching, making her lessons engaging and relatable. Her students benefit from learning not only the technical aspects of music but also gaining insights into the practical and creative sides of music. What sets Ms. Guérison apart is her kind and creative nature, which makes her approachable and relatable to her students. She has a natural ability to build strong relationships with her students, fostering a learning environment where they feel supported, understood, and motivated to succeed. She is not just a teacher but also an excellent role model, teaching life lessons that transcend music. Her emphasis on discipline, creativity, and personal growth has a lasting impact on her students. Though my daughters are no longer studying music, I am confident the lessons they learned about working hard and finding joy in this process will be useful in whatever field they pursue. I am confident that she will continue to inspire and educate the next generation of musicians with the same excellence and passion that my daughters witnessed.”

“We have known Mel for approximately 10 years when she started providing private singing lessons for our daughter and piano lessons for both our daughter and son. If we were to describe Mel as a music teacher in 3 words – Passionate, Creative, and Inspirational. Our daughter, Theodora, had an interest to learn piano & vocals. She is a quick learner and has a good work ethic, however, she struggled with her self-confidence, especially in front of crowds. Mel provided a positive & safe environment where Theodora could build her self-confidence yet challenge her enough to achieve her potential. A memorable example of this was when she prepared her for a recital that allowed her to showcase both her piano and vocal skills. Just getting up there in front of a large audience would have been a challenge for Theodora, let alone singing and playing piano. Mel’s continuous training and encouragement during her lessons was essential to building Theodora’s confidence to perform in front of the large crowd. Our son, Gigi, also shares his sister’s interest for the music arts. However, challenges with Autism required a unique learning journey for him. Gigi loves 80’s music but struggles to maintain focus and motivation, especially for complex tasks like playing piano. We questioned whether he would be able to even learn the piano basics. This is where Mel’s innate skills of patience, creativity and motivation shined the greatest. To maintain Gigi’s focus and motivation, she tailored his music lessons with songs that resonated with him. Mel was able to do this on the spot and within minutes. In addition, she created a decoder system so Gigi knew which keys he needed to press while reading his music notes. What we thought was likely impossible, Mel made it possible. In addition to building his piano skills, Mel also was able to introduce Gigi to recording tools & applications that enable mixing of songs with various synths, guitars, drums, and his own singing lines. To this day, he still utilizes these applications to build his own unique songs. These were just a few examples of how Mel has been essential in introducing music art into our children’s lives and enriching their creativity and skillsets.”
