Drums, Guitar, Bass, Piano, Singing, Music Theory and Songwriting
“Over the last 5 years, Scott Moyer has engaged my passion and elevated my understanding of the musical language. His deep knowledge spans across songwriting, rhythms, music theory, and more. Using the tools I have learned with Scott in the practice room, I am finishing my own solo album. He is a true teacher!”

“I have studied music with Scott Moyer for two and half years. I studied drumming, singing and music theory with him. Scott is an encyclopedia of music. He is unbelievably knowledgeable about so many aspects of music: guitar, piano, singing, drumming, composing, music theory.. you name it. And he is very willing to share his knowledge and skills. It has been a wonderful journey for me to gain knowledge about western music by studying with Scott. My skills and appreciation of music has increased significantly since I have taken his classes. He is a teacher whom I would highly recommend to anyone who would like to study music.”

“I started taking drum lessons with Scott in early 2019. I started from scratch, never touching a drumstick prior to that day. Within the first month of weekly lessons, I had learned how to hold the stick, and was quickly playing simple beginner concepts with fluidity. In the years that followed, lessons were done virtually. However, this did not effect my rapidly growing skillset. Oftentimes, Scott and I create new complex concepts involving syncopation. He creates helpful charts to study from using the Zoom whiteboard function. We apply his termed “rhythmathology,” as well as incorporating other aspects of music theory that he has taught me. Additionally, when he wants to introduce me to a new drummer, he pulls out a cymbal with dozens of signatures that he has been collecting for decades. We then observe their specific style through music and videos. I started learning guitar with Scott completely online, never having an in-person lesson. However, Scott’s teaching methods make it easy for beginners to learn through Zoom. I have been playing guitar for nearly three years, and have learned upwards of one hundred songs. Scott has taught me how to learn songs by ear, which is a helpful skill. Additionally, we cross-reference syncopated drumming rhythms with fingerpicking patterns. This allows for me to easily create new ideas that I can add to my arsenal. I have learned music theory concepts such as modes, song form, scales, note intervals, chord structures, soloing techniques, and more. Overall, Scott is an excellent instructor and a great human being that is helping a new generation of musicians to learn and grow.”

“I studied with Scott Moyer for about 5 or 6 years. Learning drums with Scott was an incredibly enriching experience. His passion for music and dedication to teaching was very apparent in every lesson. With patience and expertise, he guided me from a complete beginner to confidently playing complex rhythms and drum parts. Thanks to Scott I not only developed all the skills needed to be a successful drummer but also a deep appreciation and passion for the drums. I highly recommend Scott for anyone looking for a well rounded musical education.”

“When I first got interested in music and specifically the guitar three years ago, I knew I wanted to not just play, but truly understand music. That’s why finding Scott has been a transformative journey for me. From the outset, Scott has been more than a teacher; he has been a guide, mentor, and source of inspiration with his passion for and knowledge in music. Scott taught me the scales, how to play chords, finger formulas and rhythms while also explaining the underlying music theory. He has been very patient with me since none of these came natural to me and I had to try many times till I got more proficient at them. Our lessons over Zoom have been very effective. The Zoom lesson diagrams and designs Scott incorporates into the lessons are not just innovative, they’re incredibly effective. They compliment the learning process and have become great reference material for me to go back and review prior concepts we had covered. For anyone who wants to learn music or get better at playing an instrument, I highly recommend Scott Moyer as your teacher and guide in your musical journey.”
