Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba and Conducting lessons by Caster Teoh
“After taking basic trumpet lessons in his school band, my son Arthur showed promise enough that I arranged lessons with a UCLA grad student. I later was fortunate to find Caster Teoh. Working with Caster, Arthur’s playing improved dramatically. Under Caster Arthur’s playing really blossomed—both from a technical and interpretive perspective. Caster introduced him to a wide variety of classical genres from Baroque to 20th Century and instilled in him the identity and artistry of a professional. Thanks largely to Caster’s teaching, Arthur won a scholarship at the Robert Cole Conservatory of Music (Cal State Long Beach) where his teacher is principal trumpet in the Los Angeles Opera Company. Naturally he continued improving, but one summer I had him take lessons again with Caster—because of the three teachers he’s had I feel that Caster did more to transform his playing and his attitude than either of the others. Arthur was excited after every lesson and got exposed to the broadest possible repertory of classical trumpet music. I was a musicology professor at UCLA for several years, so I have some expertise in this area. ”
