What is the difference between a baritone horn and a euphonium?
The instruments are very similar in basic range and in playing technique. The main difference is the tone color. The Euphonium has a darker sound. This is because the euphonium has a “conical” bore, meaning that the tubing gradually becomes larger throughout its length, whereas the baritone horn has a “cylindrical” bore, meaning that the diameter of the tubing remains mostly the same throughout.
