Thomas Grant teaches piano, guitar, ukulele and songwriting in the San Fernando Valley. He believes scales, theory, correct terminology etc. is important, but making lessons enjoyable, stimulating, and rewarding is just as critical, especially when working with children or people who find it difficult to stay engaged. Thomas has been playing piano since 1995 and teaching since 2011. He has been very fortunate to be able to share the passion that his teachers have shared with him. His first instructor had a lasting impact on him, stressing not only the importance of classical music and theory but also to play with great emotion and character. Thomas began writing music at 16 and has compiled over 200 pieces and songs. He was the accompanying pianist for Missoula’s Children’s Theatre in 2005 and has performed in numerous orchestras, choirs, bands, and live concerts. He is currently studying Composition at California State University Northridge. When he isn’t consumed with music, Thomas enjoys the wilderness, reading, day dreaming, snowboarding, chess, and spending time with his nephews and nieces.
