Shahid Osuna teaches flute in the San Fernando Valley and online. He enjoys meeting you at your challenge level. He teaches band or orchestra music, recording techniques, chamber music, recital preparation and music theory. Shahid has taught across Southern California through various music organizations, schools, and studios. He loves teaching students of all levels and ages! In 2019, he graduated from California State University, Northridge with a degree in Wind Performance, where he studied with David Shostac. In 2021, Shahid completed his Master of Fine Arts degree in Instrumental Arts at the California Institute of the Arts under Dr. Rachel Rudich. Shahid has played with several ensembles across the Los Angeles area, including the Bellflower Symphony Orchestra, San Fernando Symphony, Armenian Pops Orchestra, and the LA Symphonic Winds. He has also played in pit orchestras for various organizations, including Hussian College and Performance Riverside. He currently plays principal flute with the Whittier Regional Symphony. As a flute ensemble enthusiast, he has played with the Song of Angels Flute Orchestra, FluteSonic, the Silver Sounds Flute Ensemble, and the Sterling Flute Choir. His flute ensemble arrangements and compositions have been debuted through performances at national venues, such as at the 2019 National Flute Association Convention in Salt Lake City, UT, and also virtually featured due to the recent pandemic. His most recent piece, a blues-inspired arrangement of “Amazing Grace,” has been featured by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
