Michael Leffler teaches drumset in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. He has 30 years of teaching experience. Because he has training in physiology, he is an expert at insuring full-body ergonomic efficiency and relaxation technique to create optimal control. Michael teaches all levels of drumset, beginning, intermediate and advanced. He is masterful at the following styles: Rock, Jazz, Latin,World, Big Band, Fusion, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban.
Michael Leffler’s Passion for music became apparent to his friends and family as a young child. His early years consisted of drumming on the floor to Led Zeppelin records at age 5. Joining the high school band began his formal training and his desire to grow as a musician became all consuming in his life. After graduating high school, Michael enrolled at Musicans Institute in Hollywood California where he studied with world renown musicians/educators such as Joe Pocaro, Ralph Humphrey and Terry Bozzio. Michael completed his training at Musicians Institute and earned a Bachelors in Music Performance. He graduated with honors in June 1990. Michael’s professional career started soon after leaving music school. He started playing the New England and mid atlantic club circuits with rock bands and top 40 groups. He gained a lot of experience performing music live, completing many tours thru the United States and Canada. His group, Riot Act won 1st place at the Budweiser battle of the bands New England showcase in Portland Maine in June 2001.
Over time, Michael began composing his own music and collaborating with his fellow musicians. His perseverance paid off by winning Single of the Year award for his group Cohesive’s song “To The Stars” in the 2008 Los Angeles Music Awards. He was recognized again with an Album of the Year nomination for Cohesive’s debut album release at the 2009 Los Angeles Music Awards with Michael credited for writing and performing on the record. Michael’s songs have been published to the rockband video game and used in TV commercials world-wide His work with Cohesive went on to win several awards in the industry including recognition with Vh-1 save the music, two songs placed in the top 5 of Michael Pinder’s song wars competition and more.
