Kevin Bandel teaches cello in Manhattan Beach, CA and surrounding South Bay cities, and also online. He strives to connect technique and musicality in his teaching, allowing one to practice with much more fun and creativity. Kevin finds teaching more rewarding than performing even though he was a performance major at prestigious music conservatories. He is thrilled to spread the joy of learning music! Kevin performs in Orchestra Santa Monica, and other local groups, including musical productions and church concerts. He also serves as Orchestra Santa Monica’s librarian and is a job coach at Jazz Hands for Autism. Kevin has Alexander Technique training and Suzuki Teacher training and often incorporates these disciplines into his own teaching.
Kevin Bandel earned his Artist Diploma in cello performance in cello performance at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, studying with Desmond Hoebig and Andres Diaz. He received an Artist Diploma in orchestral studies with the San Francisco Academy Orchestra studying with Amos Yang, and his Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music studying with Jennifer Culp.
Outside of music, he is a serious gamer that participates in competitive level Super Smash Brothers Melee.
