Felipe Guzmán teaches drumset and latin percussion in Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas. His passion is to respect every student’s individuality to help them reach their goals and also having fun while learning. He feels that this creates a perfect balance for an optimal learning environment. He feels that music and art can express something beautiful, a message that matters, or just a really deep, touching groove, and he strives to achieve this as an artist.
Felipe is a drummer, percussionist, film scorer, and composer from Bogotá, Colombia, based in Los Angeles, CA since September 2015. Felipe started playing around with drums at age 11 and started to study seriously at around 14. He continued working hard with what he had in Colombia for years until he decided to audition for the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 2009. Against all he expected, he was accepted, awarded a scholarship, and studied Drum Set Performance/Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music for the last 5 years (2010-15). Felipe has performed at events like the The Montréal Drum Fest (2013), the Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival (2012-14), The Carnegie Hall Concert Series (2015), The NAMM show 2015-16, KoSA Drum Camp (2015), The TenDrum International Perc. Festival (Taiwan,2013), California Brazil Camp (2014), LP Promotional Videos (2014, 2015), among others. He has also toured multiple times around the US with various projects. He is now relocated to Los Angeles, where he has become an active session drummer, performer, band leader, and freelance film composer. In LA, he works/has worked with more than 7 different musical projects as main drummer (Felipe Guzmán Group, Guataca System, Rob Leines Band, Sharlene, Tiago, Hyvmine, Beatriz Solís, Bootleg Orchestra, Grooversity, and more), plays with renowned church Heart of the Canyons, and continues to do session work, and private instruction independently. His own Felipe Guzmán Group, a timba/Latin Jazz project focused in his own compositions released in October 2016 their debut album “En Todos Lados,” available in every platform.
