Cherie Valaray has been teaching voice with Richman Music School since 2010. Cherie Valaray was born in Hungary and graduated from the Budapest Studio of the Hungarian Society of Musicians and Dancers. In Europe, she sang in Hannover Theater’s Gypsy Baron and Die Fledermaus, at the Lehar and Kalman Operetta Festival in Hungary, in musicals at the Arany Janos Theater. She also studied acting for two years in Budapest before going to New York. There, Cherie studied with Metropolitan Opera tenor, Gabor Carelli, and sang at sponsored charity concerts in the City. Cherie has continued voice training with the internationally known vocal coach, David Harper, in Sydney, Australia – where she also studied with Andrew Dalton, vocal coach for the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and Nicole Dorigo, French-Italian language coach of the same Conservatorium. Cherie has taken classes with Estella Roche, repetiteur of Opera Australia, and master classes with England’s Mary King. Cherie studied with renowned Australian tenor, Jonathon Welch whose Tenor Australis included Cherie in their ‘Three Tenors and a Diva’ tour. Some years before, Cherie was one of The Duelling Sopranos who played Australia and Europe with two CD’s produced of the show. In 2006 Cherie made her first of several appearances in Jakarta for the Sydney International Cultural Centre at 72 Erskine. Her debut at Goethe Haus included 23 coloratura arias and lyric pieces. 500 cognoscenti including government ministers, ambassadors, heads of music, voice and orchestral schools – gave Cherie rave reviews in Jakarta’s two most reputed Indonesian, and, English newspapers. ‘A pure, clear, strong and very high soprano… Great musical dexterity… Truly inspiring… Impeccable.’ (KOMPAS Newspaper and Jakarta Post)
