Yiqing Chen teaches Oboe, English Horn, Cello, Piano and Shakuhachi Flute in the Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, and surrounding areas. Yiqing enjoys teaching to students of all levels and has over 6 years of teaching experience. All of her students have performed in their school orchestra, and recitals. Before come to LA, she studied oboe with Mingjia Liu who is the principal oboe in San Francisco Opera. Yiqing is currently a master student at California institute of the Arts. She studies oboe with Allan Vogel and cello with Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick. She received Colburn Scholarship during the time at CalArts. She is very active as a performer and teacher. She taught at the Bocal Majority double reed camp as a junior faculty. Yiqing has won the silver award from playing the oboe of art college specialty in the second ICAF western orchestral music contest; oboe solo gold award in National Youth Music Tour Peking University exchange show; oboe first prize in the first “Summer Cup” talent contest (Western Orchestra). She participated in the music summer festival at the Curtis Institute of the Music in 2017 and played principal oboe with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra.
