Alex Barak teaches beginning and intermediate piano in the San Fernando Valley. As a teacher, she is fun and creative and patient. She has lots of experience working with children, particularly based on her experience as a camp counselor. She is currently a senior at Van Nuys High School, in the performing arts magnet. She’s been playing piano for 8 years and has done many performances and festivals. Alex is the lead pianist in the school jazz band, in the top combo school, doing multiple gigs a week. She is highly-trained in classical music and music theory as well. Alex has written and arranged many compositions for all kinds of ensembles and collaborates very well with the other musicians. She also plays bassoon and participates in the youth philharmonic as 1st bassoon. Alex has lots of leadership experience mainly due to her experience in the marching band, playing tenor saxophone and mallet percussion. She enjoys writing music, drawing, and writing stories in her free time. Alex has studied piano with many teachers, and most recently with Howard B. Richman.
